Program Information

Ozobots are small line-following robots that present a fun and educational opportunity for young students to begin to explore

robotics and coding.  Ozobots are controlled by color codes created by using color markers to draw lines and codes for it to explore.

Connecting to the tiny robot like a new friend, students will mold their own state of play, one line at a time.  Students will begin by learning Ozobot’s simple color language as they draw mazes, paths, intersections and create entire worlds to explore puzzling playgrounds, fast tracks and intricate labyrinths. After learning how to program the Ozobots, students will be exposed to simple challenges in which they must help the Ozobot to avoid obstacles and reach a goal.

Students will then expand the exposure they get to coding through an introduction to Scratch Jr.  Scratch Jr. is a fun drag-and-drop programming “language" that was designed to introduce children ages 5-8 to the wonderful world of coding.  After the course is over, students will have a basic understanding of how to use Scratch Jr. and, perhaps more importantly, be able to continue their coding at home with a further exploration of Scratch Jr. and a natural progression to Scratch as their understanding expands.
